Com Pho Co Restaurant

16 Nguyen Sieu, Hanoi
The entrance of Com Pho Co
We stopped by for dinner at Com Pho Co Restaurant by chance. We did not expect much although it was listed in the restaurant list given by our hotel. Anyway, we were too tired and hungry to hunt for another place for dinner. The plus side is the place looked clean and cosy.

Their kitchen at the entrance
They serve Vietnamese cuisine and they have the same style like New Day Restaurant. The customers get to choose the dishes directly from the displayed trays at the entrance / kitchen. It is a little like our economy rice stall. However, they have better services like the waitress will heat up some of the dishes (not all the dishes) and bring them to the table. Rice is served separately (unlike our economy rice where the dishes are topped on the rice on the same plate).

Dishes: vege, prawns and pork
We had chosen their stir-fried leafy mustard, prawns and a dark soy sauce pork. They just were average.

Fried chicken but were too dry
The above is the plate of fried chicken which we found them to be too dry and not savoury at all.

Other than choosing from their kitchen, we also ordered from their menu. We had in mind to try out, bun cha and they had them in the menu. So, here we had the chance to try the famous Vietnamese dish, bun cha and we also had two glasses of milk tea.

Bun cha
The above is bun cha. It consists of a plate of rice vermicelli (enough for two pax), a bowl of soup with pork and a plate of salad. As this was our first bun cha, we could not compare. However, we managed to finish the whole thing, so it must be quite good. Bun cha costs 55,000 dong (RM 8.25) (USD 2.60).
Com Pho Co
Milk tea at 18,000 dong each (RM 2.70) (USD 0.85)
I specifically remember their milk tea best. The milk tea bears some resemblance to our teh tarik. Look at the thick layer of bubbles on top. It is indeed good.

There were both locals and tourists dining in when we were there. So, I guess their Vietnamese cuisine must be authentic. Here, we have altogether spent 241,000 dong (RM 36.15) (USD 11.35) for our dinner which was quite reasonable but the taste of their food were just average to us.
