A two-night stay at The Orient Star Lumut Hotel

Wild flowers creepng on the beach
The Orient Star Lumut Hotel, situated near the Lumut jetty, made it very convenient for us to walk to Lumut jetty. It was only a 5-minute walk to Lumut jetty.

At a glimpse of the hotel, it looked quite glamorous as a beach hotel. There were ample of parking spaces in the compound. The hotel had a nice looking swimming pool and beach.

The hotel also had outdoor seating breakfast area. However, some of the glass breakfast tables at the outdoor seating area had cracks and were dirty. Therefore, we only went for the wooden tables.

Our hotel booking came with a buffet breakfast for two. The choices of breakfast were just okay, with a mixture of western and local breakfast like nasi lemak, fried rice and so on.  I would say the rice dishes were tasty while the rest was just average. We also tried the limited and halal Chinese dim sum. Well, this was actually my first time having halal dim sum.

Our superior room was located on the first floor and was supposed to have city view. Unfortunately, the 'city view' turned out to be the view of unoccupied houses next to it. The room size was okay for us but we found that the room was rather old. The two lazy chairs at the balcony were dirty. The hair dryer looked dated but it could still function. The shower area was wide which I liked. But the sitting toilet was too low for an average height person like me. So, it could be a problem for taller people.

The staff were actually friendly and helpful except there were minor hiccups here and there. We checked into the hotel at four p.m. but our room was still not ready. After 20 minutes or so, we were given our room but without towels and bath mat. The housekeeping lady told us politely that these items were still in the laundry room and she would send them later.

So, overall I would rate this hotel, 3/5.

*Some tips: If you want to have a room with nice view of the beach and pool, you need to book deluxe room.
