Christmas at Perlis

We have just come back from a 3D2N trip to Perlis, Malaysia. Perlis is the smallest state in Malaysia. It shares its border with Thailand, our neighbour up north.

This was actually our first time we exploring Perlis together thoroughly although I had been on a bus trip to places like Gua Kelam and Wang Kelian about more than ten years ago.

We are still feeling exhausted after the trip. We had planned for a relaxing holiday at Perlis state which seemed like a quaint and sleepy place to spend our Christmas. However, it turned out to be filled with fun activities. So, that explains why we are tired but very happy.

In summary, what we have discovered over the past days are:
  1. Perlis is famous for its caves, parks and lakes.
  2. It offers picturesque views of paddy fields, fishing villages and sea.

  3. It is definitely cooler than Penang. It was windy and cloudy most of the time.
  4. There was no traffic jam at all although it was school holiday and Christmas.
  5. The Perlisians are friendly and the Malaysian Chinese in Perlis speak Hokkien.
  6. Most Chinese restaurants do not serve pork and patrons of all races eat in the same restaurants.
  7. Eating out is a bit difficult as there are not many restaurants there.
  8. The signboards of the attractions are very clear and reliable. So, you do not need a map.
  9. It is popular for Harum Manis mango. Plus you can also get your Harum Manis key chains and fridge magnets.
  10. It is also popular for its artisan handicrafts.

Coming up... post on Padang Besar.
