Dining with a View at Kemunting Lake View Restaurant

Kemunting Lake View Restaurant
Fish bred in the lake by the restaurant
After our adventure at Sungai Sedim Tree Top Walk, we stumbled upon Kemunting Lakeview Restaurant on our way home. It was indeed a hidden gem in Karangan, Kulim. Nope, we did not do any Internet research regarding this restaurant. We were so brave after hanging out on the hanging bridge for more than one hour that we went to look for a restaurant in the middle of oil palm estates.

Look out for these signboards to turn in (at road junction to the restaurant)
We sniffed our way in by following the signboards and at some point, the path was a bit too narrow for two cars to go through. It was getting dark (I think it was almost 6.30 p.m.) as the rain had just stopped. We were a bit worried too as some of the signboards looked old. We did not know whether we were on the right trail. Anyway, we tried our luck and we reached the restaurant which looked a little deserted. There was only one table occupied. This restaurant did not meet my food philosophy which was to follow where the crowd went when choosing the right eating place.  Hmm...

Looks empty but we love it
The first impression of the restaurant overlooking the lake got us very busy with our cameras until the waitress came and told us that they were going to close at seven p.m. So, if we wanted to eat our dinner there, we had better ordered before the kitchen was closed for the day. This explained why there were so few customers at that time.

As it was getting dark, the place gleamed and the lake was not so visible anymore
The reason that they were closing at seven p.m. was because there was no streetlights along the path into the restaurant. Then, we were also worried whether we could find our way out and prayed that we did not end up in the irrigation channel or big drain that we saw along the way in.

The fish breeding area
They reared their own fish in the lake. So the fish that we ordered came from the lake. We ordered a fried Tevapie fish (weighed about 800g), fried egg (Fu Yong Tan without pork), stir-fried vegetables, rice and chrysanthemum tea.

Our simple dinner at Kemunting Lake View Restaurant
In short, Kemunting Lake View Restaurant was a perfect place for dining with a view. The food was  fine and the price was reasonable. We just loved the simplicity and peace that they offered. In total, we paid RM 34.20 for our dinner for two (The breakdown of the bill - fish: RM 20, egg: RM 5, vegetable: RM 6, rice (2 plates): RM 1.20 and chrysanthemum tea (2 glasses): RM 2). Other than fish, they did serve other seafood too.
